MANCHESTER – 25th February 2016: The Gama Innovation Award – Packaging for February goes to Grandiosa Pizzatasku Pocket Pizza, a new pack format that allows consumers to enjoy hot pizza on the go.
Emblazoned with the slogan "easy to heat, easy to eat", Grandiosa Pizzatasku 'Pocket' Pizza, which has been launched in Finland by Scandinavian food firm Orkla, is a new concept that turns microwave pizza into an on-the-go snack. According to information, the box can be placed directly in the microwave and then, once heated, torn in half to create a container , allowing the pizza to be carried in one hand and eaten on the move. The product comes in Classic, Mexican and Kebab flavours.
Gama editorial director Tom Warden commented: "Despite the evident changes in consumer behaviour that have led to more flexible and more mobile patterns of consumption, in many cases packaging has been slow to catch up. Grandiosa Pizzatasku demonstrates that adjusting to this new reality does not necessarily involve excessive complexity, and that even relatively simple adaptations to pack formats can offer significant advantages".
