France: Segafredo Zanetti to launch Nespresso tea and coffee capsules

Leading Italian coffee producer Segafredo Zanetti is expanding into the capsules market with the launch of two new lines compatible with Nestle’s Nespresso machines.

The tea range will be marketed under the Nespresso sub-brand Brodies and will comprise four varieties: Breakfast, Earl Grey, Green Tea, and Assam Black Tea.  It will retail in boxes of ten capsules, sold for 3.50€.

Meanwhile the coffee line will be sold under the Segafredo brand San Marco, and will offer four varieties named Milan, Verona, Venezia, Napoli as well as a decaffeinated option.

According to Hugh Stevenson, Marketing Director of Segafredo Zanetti France, "There are high expectations of consumers in terms of capsules, and ours will be compatible with all Nespresso machines including the latest generation".

The product will be packed in capsules made of an aluminum-paper complex with a pre-laser cut filter, described as being the result of 18 months of research and development.
