France: Remy-Cointreau in talks to acquire Domaine des Hautes Glaces

French spirits firm Remy-Cointreau has announced that it has entered into exclusive negotiations to acquire Domaine des Hautes Glaces, a distiller of single malt whiskies, with a view to acquiring its entire share capital.

Created in 2009, Domaine des Hautes Glaces produces single malt whiskies from the Trieves Mountains, an area located in the French Alps at an altitude of 900m altitude. Certified organic, the firm's whiskies are said to adhere to the principles of sustainable development, manufactured in a traditional and authentic way from barley rye, and oat under a range of different Alpine climates.

Announcing the offer in a statement, Remy Cointreau said the move "represents the opportunity for Rémy Cointreau to incorporate into its portfolio a high-end brand with genuine potential and to increase, over time, the value of an inventory of whiskies of the highest quality by involving the Domaine des Hautes Glaces team in this development".

The acquisition contract could be signed before the end of 2016.
