France: Fleury Michon enters the packaged sandwich market

Fleury Michon, best known for meat products and ready meals, is looking to take advantage of its experience with charcuterie to enter the sandwich market, according to the French website Snacking.

With the launch of the pre-packed sandwich line in April, French food manufacturer Fleury Michon is looking to attract new consumers to the brand. According to reports, Fleury Michon intends to distinguish itself from other sandwich providers with a "soft" bread type and through the use of recipes that do contain mayonnaise. The sandwich line will comprise four meat-based varieties: Parisien (“Parisian”), with  ‘superior’ ham and butter; Villageois (“Villager”), with roast minced chicken and mustard; Mediterraneen (“Mediterranean”) with ‘superior’ ham, tomatoes and basil; and Lyonnais (“Lyon Style”), with Rosette de Lyon cured sausage and pickles.

The product will retail in 130g paper bags mimicking ‘takeaway’ sandwich packaging, and will be priced at €1.99 ($2.74).
