France: Ferrero to modernise plant

Ferrero France, the subsidiary of the Italian confectionary giant Ferrero Group, has announced an investment of €38.5 million ($40.6 million) to extend and upgrade its factory in Villers-Ecalles overthe next five years.

Ferrero said that the decision was the result of a policy of continuous modernization undertaken by the company in the last five years and includes the construction of a new storage building of nearly 6500 sq m and the modernisation of the reception and storage facilities of the plant.

"This major investment is excellent news for the development of our business and the local anchoring in Seine-Maritime, to which Ferrero France is very attached. We are modernizing our industrial equipment to adapt to the challenges of tomorrow", said Michel Etcheberrigaray, general manager of the Ferrero France plant in Villers-Ecalles.

The Villers- Ecalles plant produces 25% of the total Nutella distributed worldwide, as well as other products sold in the French market. Goods from the plant are also exported to Spain, the UK, Portugal and Benelux countries.
