China: Nestle to strengthen ice cream production

Nestle is strengthening its ice cream business in China with an investment of RMB 100 million (more than $ 16 million) in two facilities in the country.

As part of the investment, the company has opened a new production line in Tianjin to produce its 8Cubes brand and has increased its cold storage capacity at the Guangzhou site.

“This investment will enhance our ability to meet increasing consumer demand for our products”, said Ouyang Kai, Vice President of Nestle Greater China Region’s Ice Cream Business Unit. “It also underlines our confidence in the long-term dynamics of the Chinese market”.

“The Chinese ice cream market is a dynamic and competitive market […] Therefore, in order to win in the Chinese ice cream market, we should not only produce quality and delicious products, but also closely follow changes in the local consumption fashion and launch innovative and healthy products relying on our R&D expertise".
