Brazil: SC Johnson to acquire insect repellent and detergent assets

SC Johnson, the US household and personal care firm, is to acquire insect repellent brand Exposis and assets under the Lysoform brand as it looks to strengthen its position in Brazil.

Insect repellent brand Exposis is available exclusively over the counter in pharmacies throughout Brazil. It uses Picaridin as the active ingredient to repel mosquitoes and other insects.

Meanwhile, certain assets under the Lysoform brand are also being acquired by SC Johnson from Brazilian household firm Bombril for R$47.95 ($14.23 million). According to Giro News, Bombril described the move as forming part of a reorganisation strategy, with proceeds from the sale going towards improving the company's capital structure. The Bombril Lysoform line includes degreasing cleaners, bleach, antibacterial spray, laundry disinfectant and shoe deodorizers.

Commenting on the Exposis deal, SC Johnson chairman and CEO Fisk Johnson said: "We are thrilled to acquire the Exposis line of products. It is a premium brand in Brazil, and is a good complement to our existing line of trusted pest control products".
