Brazil: Pao de Acucar opens ‘winter only’ store
Grupo Pao de Acucar, the leading Brazilian supermarket chain, has opened a new branch of its Minuto Pao de Acucar convenience stores that is scheduled to be open for only one month during the wintertime.
Located in in the Market Plaza shopping centre in Campos do Jordao, Sao Paulo, the store opened on the 3rd July and is due to close again on the 2nd August. The aim of the seasonal store is reportedly to promote the Minuto brand and to enable local consumers and tourists to try special products that are available in other Minuto Pao de Acucar outlets. 4,500 lines in total will be available for purchase, including luxury products that are in particularly high demand during the winter months such as wine, cheese, pasta, chocolate, coffee, fondue, bread and speciality beer.
300 sq. metres in size, the store will see 20% of its floor space given over to promotional displays of special products from global FMCG firms such as Unilever, Diageo and Red Bull.
