Brazil: Carrefour Express set for debut
Carrefour Express, the convenience store brand operated by the Carrefour Group, has arrived in Brazil with the opening of its first store in Sao Paulo.
Located in the Tatuape area of the city, the store is 250 square metres in size and is designed to meet the growing need for stores nearer to homes and places of business where consumers can make small but frequent purchases, the company said.
According to Carrefour, the store is divided into three sections: one for products likely to be consumed “on-the-go”, such a drinks, snacks and confectionery; another for “day-to-day” products like dairy, breakfast products and bread; and the third for other groceries such as food, pet care, cleaning products and hygiene products.
Charles Desmartis, CEO of Carrefour Brazil, commented: “With this launch Carrefour takes a further step to drive growth in Brazil, the second largest market in our group’s operations”.
Since the Carrefour Express concept was first rolled out 30 years ago, the group has opened over 5,800 convenience stores across ten countries, including France, Argentina and Spain.
