Australia: Woolworths extends click & collect service
Australian supermarket chain Woolworths has recently announced the launch of an extension to its click & collect service using local transport hubs, to be trialled at Sydney’s Bondi Junction train station.
According to a report in InsideFMCG, the 12 month click & collect initiative will allow customers to place an online order with the retailer before 11am and then collect their purchases from specially designed lockers later in the day. Woolworths said that the move was part of “a broader strategy to diversify services”.
Kate Langford, GM-digital retail of Woolworths, said: “Woolworths is always looking for new and innovative ways to serve our customers and make their shopping easier and more convenient. Click & Collect is already popular in our stores and at our drive through locations. Now our customers will be able to collect their groceries at the station on their way home which is great for commuters”.
