Australia: OneHarvest starts construction on new fresh salad facility
Fresh salad supplier OneHarvest has started construction on a new salad packing facility in New South Wales, Australia, according to a report in Australian Food News.
The new "multi million dollar" plant, the result of a partnership between One Harvest and food manufacturing facility specialist Wiley, will pack a range of salad leaf items including spinach, lettuce, rocket, kale and will also produce value-added products such as mixes and kits. The majority of the produce is destined for private label ranges, supplying supermarkets on the Australian east coast.
“This project will enable OneHarvest to service the largest market for pre-packaged salads in the country with fresher product, owing to the facility being closer to the freeway network and our retail customers’ points of distribution”, said Sam Robson, OneHarvest Managing Director.
“Consumers will benefit from being able to purchase fresher, higher quality product that lasts longer once they take it home,” Mr Robson added. “OneHarvest will also be able to meet its growing need for increased capacity, particularly in the peak summer trading period”.
