Australia: McCain Foods launches Healthy Choice Wholegrains range

McCain is expanding its frozen food portfolio in Australia and New Zealand with the launch of a new Healthy Choice Wholegrains line, according to a report in Australian Food News.

Created by the firm’s in-house chef, the new range is said to feature international flavours combined with wholegrain pasta and cereals and comprises the varieties Thai Beef and Basil Stir Fry with Brown Rice & Quinoa , Moroccan Lamb Tagine with Chickpeas & Brown Rice Pilaf, Mexican Slow Cooked Beef with Brown Rice & Quinoa, Italian Beef and Chia Meatballs with Wholemeal Spaghetti, and Malaysian Beef Curry with Brown and Wild Rice.

“A lot of frozen healthy meals are heavily grounded in ‘what’s out’, claiming either lower fat or fewer calories”, commented Mike O’Brien, Director of Marketing McCain Foods ANZ. “Australians and New Zealanders are now more focused on ‘what’s in’, and are increasingly looking for good carbs and good grains”.

The Healthy Choice Wholegrains line will be available in all major Australian and New Zealand supermarkets for an RRP of A$6.49 ($5.04).
